September 4, 11, & 18, 2026

By CRESCENT (Cascadia Region Earthquake Science Center)

Please save the dates below for a set of Virtual Sessions being organized by the CRESCENT Special Interest Group on Tsunami Sources for Hazard Assessment.

Using the Cascadia CoPes Hub Sources Webinar—On September 4, 9-10am PDT, we will host a webinar to discuss the Cascadia CoPes Hub megathrust earthquake sources, how they relate to other sets of Cascadia sources, and how they might be used in the context of tsunami hazard assessment. This webinar is open to anyone interested in learning about these sources and welcomes attendance from the broader scientific community.  We will also briefly present a modeling test problem that we are developing, specifically for modelers who want to download the sources and try them out in conjunction with their preferred tsunami modeling software. The goal is to help modelers use these sources, and to gather feedback on how we could make the source-to-modeling process easier.

Using the Cascadia CoPes Hub Sources Office Hour—On September 11, 9-10am PDT, we will host an open office hour for any questions related to the use of these sources.

Using the Cascadia CoPes Hub Sources Workshop—On September 18, 9am-Noon PDT, we will work through the problem and results as a group, with opportunities to provide feedback and to make suggestions on how these (or other sources) can best be made available to the community. Please register here for the webinar and/or workshop in order to receive more information and the Zoom links.
